This chic, beautiful and serene restaurant in central Mayfair invites all guests to explore one of the world’s most unknown and underrated cuisines. Originating in the northeastern Indian ‘sister states’ of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura, Kanishka serve uniquely tasty and simply beautiful dishes quite unlike any London Indian we’ve tried. And, you’re certainly in safe hands - Chef Atul Kochhar has won two Michelin Stars and Kanishka has already been making waves in the mainstream media, with articles extolling their virtues in Bloomberg, The Independent, and many more.
Food from this region of India is as culturally varied as it is flavoursome; influences from Myanmar, China, Thailand; from Hinduism, Islam and Christianity all merge to create a crossroads of cuisine guaranteed to make an indelible imprint on the memory. In this part of the world, “rice is a staple food and chilli is the hero ingredient”, however Kanishka’s menu ensures that all dishes offer something different. We love the tasting menus, with one for meat eaters and one for veggies, but the set and a la carte menus are also full of goodies. Recommended is the Kurkure soft shell crab, with mango and peanut jhal muri and passion fruit chutney for starters, followed by the Videshi style muntjac ki boti; venison steak, keema kulcha, grilled apple, aubergine and raita with juniper garam masala gravy.
The bold jewel-toned interior and tropical plants of Kanishka create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying a fabulous meal with friends, colleagues, family, or that special someone. Kanishka tend to get very busy, so make sure you book a table at Kanishka with DiscoEat to ensure you get a top spot, and a time-dependent discount of up to 50% off your meal!
